Our first fringe event held with The League Against Cruel Sports on October 6th went very well. The key speakers were Dominic Raab MP, Andrew Rosindell MP, Lorraine Platt, the Co Founder of CAFH and Douglas Batchelor, the Chief Executive Of The League Against Cruel Sports. The discussion was chaired by the co Founder of Conservatives Against Fox Hunting, Chris Platt.
There was serious discussion and debate from both sides of the argument. We feel we have laid a successful foundation to encourage future discussions on this issue involving Conservative MPs. We provided a platform to represent the two thirds of Conservative supporters to voice their support for the Hunting Act 2004 which bans the unnecessary hunting of wild mammals with dogs. We received a positive response and it was a promising start for us to engage with Conservative MPs for future events. We literally took the discussion to the table at the Conservative Conference!
