As Boxing Day approaches Hunts across the country will meet for the annual Boxing Day Hunt. Lorraine Platt, the Co founder of Conservatives Against Fox Hunting said:
“Hunt supporters may talk about their Boxing Day meets and the repeal of the Hunting Act yet it is important to remember that the majority of people in Britain support the ban on hunting wild stags, hares and foxes with hounds. Hare coursing is also banned under the act.
Earlier this month, the RSPCA successfully prosecuted the Heythrop Hunt which pleaded guilty to four charges of intentionally hunting a fox on several occasions which is illegal under the Hunting Act 2004. Nobody is above the law. The ban is over 8 years old and people are increasingly intolerant of outmoded cruel sports and people who break the law will be prosecuted, whether it is for fox hunting, badger baiting, hare coursing, dog fighting or any other forms of cruelty to animals. No responsible person would want to associate with people who participate in activities which inflict suffering upon wild animals with dogs for sport. Badger baiters set dogs onto badgers and it is condemned by society yet fox hunters set dogs onto foxes and this is deemed acceptable by a minority. It is right that these activities are banned. There is no place for such cruelty in a civilised society. ”
We have appeared in the Daily Mail, The Independent ,the Guardian and Politics.co.uk over the Boxing Day Hunt period and hope the message against repeal continues to spread amongst Conservative MPs.
