UNTRACEABLE rebel hunts are illegally operating throughout Wales with total disregard for the law, according to a member of a registered hunt.

Rogue hunts have been seen tracking and flushing out foxes in areas of the Welsh countryside where they are not registered to act – prompting fears from legitimate hunts they will be blamed if foxes are killed.

The revelation comes after The League Against Cruel Sports (LACS), an animal welfare charity opposed to fox hunting, launched an innovative “huntmap” in an attempt to illustrate hunt behaviour in Britain.

WHAT’S THE LAW? Hunting wild mammals with dogs was made illegal in England and Wales under the Hunting Act in February 2005, but hounds can be used to follow a scent and to flush out a fox. Foxes can still be shot, or killed by birds of prey after being tracked by no more than a pair of hounds
