It was supported by the Ramblers, Butterfly Conservation and the Mammal Society

It was good to see lots of people coming to Westminster to be inspired by some speeches and then to lobby their MPs on behalf of wildlife.

At the morning sitting, there were two MPs, Caroline Lucas (Green) and Kerry McCarthy (Labour), and in the afternoon Julian Huppert (LibDem) and Sir John Randall (Conservative). All four MPs were passionate about nature.

People walked with placards and banners to the Palace of Westminster, accompanied by a large Red Fox, a large Badger and Bill Oddie to meet their MPs.

Animal welfare experts, conservationists and countryside lovers united in calling for greater protection for our wildlife. This is a key time for nature, with a general election only five months away. It is time for politicians from all parties to sit up and take notice of nature

The event also called to establish a Nature & Wellbeing Act to legally commit to nature’s recovery by bringing nature into the heart of decision-making, setting long-term targets and establishing the powers required to meet them. This would improve the status of species and their habitats, place the value of nature at the heart of decision-making, ensure that local action for nature is better connected and that everyone has better access to natural green spaces.

Do contact your MP and candidate to let them know  your views on Nature and wildlife issues.
